Warning Signs Your Gutters Need Repair

Warning Signs Your Gutters Need Repair

Most gutter problems give you warning before they turn into a bigger, more expensive fix. Here is what we look for on every repair call, and what you can watch for yourself between our visits.

Dripping at the Corners

If you notice water dripping from a gutter corner even when it is not actively raining, that is almost always a sealant failure at the miter joint, the single most common place gutters fail. This is usually a straightforward repair if caught early.

Water Pooling Instead of Draining

Standing water in a section of gutter after rain has stopped usually means the pitch is off. Most houses are not perfectly level, even new ones, so gutters need to be installed with a deliberate slope toward the downspouts. This can sometimes be corrected without a full replacement.

Gutters Pulling Away from the Fascia

This usually means hangers have failed or the fascia board underneath has started to rot from long-term water exposure. If the fascia is compromised, that needs to be addressed before or during the gutter repair, not after.

When Repair Stops Making Sense

If a system has been patched multiple times, is sagging across multiple sections, or is simply past its expected lifespan, a repair is usually a short-term fix on a system already near the end of its life. We will always give you our honest read on whether a repair or a full replacement is the better value for your specific situation.
